The more we get out, the more we realize how most people want to be helpful when they see someone struggling with an accessibility issue. What prevents someone from helping, or what causes someone to create a problem tends to be a lack of knowledge/understanding of accessibility issues. It's easy to become frustrated when you aren't getting the service you need. So we've adopted a policy of positive reinforcement. When someone does something we like, something that's helpful, we make sure to fill out a comment card to let them know they're on the right track. You'd be surprised at how many venues are shocked to get positive comments. Most people, disabled or not, save their comments for when the service is poor.
So, if you find you're on an outing in which your accessibility needs are well served, TELL THEM! Not only will it help them do the right thing in the future, you'll feel good about focusing on what's working rather than what isn't.
